Derby County boss Gary Rowett suggests that his players were 'not brave enough' in possession during Tuesday night's 1-1 draw at Queens Park Rangers.

Derby County boss Gary Rowett has accused his players of failing to show "bravery" and "composure" against Queens Park Rangers on Tuesday night.

The Rams had held a 1-0 lead at Loftus Road courtesy of Andreas Weimann's goal, but the home side equalised during the closing stages to deny Derby a first victory in six matches.

Despite leading for over half of the match in London, Rowett has suggested that the East Midlands outfit did not deserve to hang on to all three points.

The 44-year-old is quoted by the Derby Telegraph as saying: "First and foremost, we didn't play anywhere near well enough. We didn't show enough bravery on the ball or keep the ball for long enough periods.

"I thought we could cause them lots of problems, but we didn't seem to want to get on the ball and we ended up resorted to what QPR were doing - playing long and hoping for something to happen.

"We're not that type of team. We need to show more composure. I just felt at times we didn't get on the ball often enough. Maybe that's nerves or edginess. I can understand it, but we've got to find a solution."

Derby now sit in fifth place in the Championship standings, nine points adrift of second-placed Cardiff City.
