Harry Redknapp to coach Jordan national team

Harry Redknapp is to balance his new advisory position at Derby County with an unlikely job managing the Jordan national team for their upcoming World Cup qualifiers.

Harry Redknapp is to manage the Jordan national team for their upcoming World Cup qualifying fixtures, as well as taking on a coaching role at Derby County.

The 69-year-old announced on Monday that he will assist Darren Wassall in his role as temporary boss at the iPro Stadium, working purely in an advisory position.

However, Redknapp faces a hectic month ahead as he also plans to manage Jordan in their crucial games against Bangladesh and Australia during the international break.

"It's going to be a tough couple of weeks, that's for sure," he is quoted as saying by The Sun. "I'm friends with Prince Ali and wanted him to take over from Sepp Blatter. He asked me if I'd manage the team for a couple of matches and I agreed.

"I'll go to the Forest game and then go straight to London and fly to Jordan. It's a busy time but I've missed the buzz of being involved in football."

Redknapp officially starts work at County tomorrow, ahead of Saturday's East Midlands derby showdown with Nottingham Forest.
