Julian Speroni: "We are going through a tough time"

Crystal Palace goalkeeper Julian Speroni admits that the club are "going through a tough time" after a 3-1 defeat to Southampton left them 19th in the Premier League.

Julian Speroni has admitted that Crystal Palace are "going through a tough time" after Southampton inflicted on them a sixth winless Premier League game.

The Argentine goalkeeper was beaten three times at Selhurst Park on Boxing Day as the Eagles suffered a 3-1 defeat which leaves them 19th in the table.

Speroni has conceded that the Londoners are on a poor run of form, but can take solace from the fact that Palace survived from a similar position last season.

"Sometimes teams go through a drop in performances and we are going through a tough time," he told reporters.

"We went through a tough time at the beginning of last season but it's about how we come back from this. It's about how we turn things around and that is the important thing."

Palace travel to fellow relegation contenders Queens Park Rangers on Sunday.
