Crystal Palace could have striker Connor Wickham in their squad for the first time in 17 months when they take on Leicester City this weekend.

Connor Wickham is closing in on a first-team return for Crystal Palace following a 17-month spell on the sidelines.

The 25-year-old ruptured his cruciate ligaments against Swansea City in November 2016 and has not featured for the Eagles' senior side since then.

After a successful comeback with the club's Under-23s, however, the ex-Ipswich Town and Sunderland striker can now see the light at the end of the tunnel.

Speaking to reporters on Thursday afternoon prior to this weekend's Premier League meeting with Leicester City, Palace boss Roy Hodgson confirmed that Wickham is back involved with the first team.

"We don't have any injuries at the moment which is strange," he said. "Today the only players not training are Jason Puncheon, Bakary Sako and Scott Dann. Connor trained and Jeffrey Schlupp is back."

Wickham has scored seven league goals for Palace since joining in 2015, making 29 appearances in that time.
