Chesterfield chief executive Chris Turner has revealed that contract talks with duo Richard Brindley and Armand Gnanduillet have broken down.
The pair both joined the Spireites on short-term deals in January, but with their contracts coming to an end in the summer, neither has agreed fresh terms with the League Two outfit.
"We tried to secure both players on new contracts last week and were hopeful that the business would be concluded on Friday," Turner told the club's official website.
"Unfortunately, negotiations broke down when the agency involved advised Richard and Armand against signing the deals they had been offered.
The club currently sit ninth in the League Two table.
