Chelsea reportedly make a significant breakthrough in their efforts to tie down Andreas Christensen to a long-term contract.

Chelsea have reportedly make progress in their efforts to agree a new long-term contract with Andreas Christensen.

With the Denmark international having little more than seven months remaining on his existing deal, the Blues have been in constant dialogue over fresh terms being penned.

However, all has gone quiet on the matter in recent weeks, suggesting that the 25-year-old may be prepared to hold discussions with foreign clubs in January.

Nevertheless, Football Insider says that club officials have now made the breakthrough in negotiations with the player's representatives.

The report hints that an official announcement could soon be forthcoming at a time when the West Londoners are attempting to agree new contracts with other key men.

While Christensen has missed out on selection since the international break, he has still made 12 starts in the Premier League and Champions League this season.
