Barcelona and Bayern Munich are both 'strongly interested' in signing Chelsea centre-back Andreas Christensen, according to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano.

Barcelona and Bayern Munich are both reportedly 'strongly interested' in signing Chelsea centre-back Andreas Christensen on a free transfer.

The 25-year-old has been a key player for the Blues during the 2021-22 campaign, making 21 appearances in all competitions, but his contract at Stamford Bridge is due to expire at the end of June.

Thomas Tuchel's side have thus far been unable to agree a fresh deal with the Denmark international, and according to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, Barcelona and Bayern are competing to sign him.

Romano claims that a proposal from Chelsea is 'still on the table', but there has not been any developments in terms of a possible agreement with the European Cup holders.

Christensen, who spent two seasons on loan at Borussia Monchengladbach between 2015 and 2017 as part of his development, has made 148 appearances for the Blues since debuting in 2013.

A final decision on the Dane's future is expected to be made 'soon', with both Barcelona and Bayern free to agree a pre-contract with the defender this month.
