Chelsea have climbed to third in the Premier League table following their 2-1 win over Leicester City in Saturday's encounter at the King Power Stadium.

The visitors were quickest out of the starting blocks, Tiemoue Bakayoko trying his luck from 22 yards just two minutes into the game.

Leicester had Wes Morgan to thank for a number of crucial tackles, blocks and interception to thwart the English champions, but Antonio Conte's side broke the hosts' resistance late in the first half.

Cesar Azpilicueta headed down the right flank and whipped a pinpoint cross towards the back post, where Alvaro Morata beat his marker and leapt up to send a bullet header past Kasper Schmeichel.

Not long after the restart, Chelsea found themselves two goals to the good, former Leicester star N'Golo Kante edging into space and firing a low effort from 30 yards out that sneaked into the bottom corner.

However, the Foxes threatened a fightback when Jamie Vardy won a penalty just after the hour after being brought down by Thibaut Courtois in the area, the England man duly driving his spot kick down the middle.

Nonetheless, Chelsea managed to hold their opponents at bay, with substitute Willian coming closest to adding to the scoring with a curling strike just wide of the post.

Leicester, who slip to 17th in the table, have now lost six of their last seven home games against Chelsea.
