Chelsea's recent poor run of form ends with a 3-0 home victory against Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Chelsea have avoided a third successive league home defeat with a 3-0 victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers this afternoon.

Captain John Terry was the first to score, heading in from a corner by Juan Mata in the seventh minute. Mata was again on hand to assist Daniel Sturridge to double the lead from inside the six-yard box at the half hour mark.

The Spaniard went on to make his own mark on the scoresheet on the cusp of the break as he struck home after a cross from Ashley Cole, ending a half that posed no danger to Blues goalkeeper Petr Cech.

Despite increased pressure from Mick McCarthy's men in the second half, the visitors were unable to stage a comeback.

Chelsea will face Liverpool in the Carling Cup on Tuesday before travelling to Newcastle for a league clash next Saturday, while Wolves' next game will be at home against Sunderland next Sunday.
