Chelsea winger Willian admits that his side almost paid the price for failing to kill off Crystal Palace in the first half of their 2-1 victory at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea winger Willian has admitted that his side wasted a number of chances to kill off Crystal Palace during their 2-1 victory over the Eagles at Stamford Bridge this evening.

The hosts dominated proceedings in the first half and went into the break with a 2-0 lead courtesy of one from Willian and a Martin Kelly own goal.

It could have been even more comfortable for Antonio Conte's side, but they missed a number of chances which almost proved costly when Palace threatened a late second-half fightback.

Chelsea eventually held on for all three points, though, bringing an end to a run of successive defeats in the top flight.

"In games like that you have to kill the game, 2-0 is dangerous, we should've scored more but didn't," Willian told BT Sport.

The victory takes Chelsea to within two points of the Champions League places, although that gap will grow to four if Tottenham Hotspur beat Bournemouth on Sunday.
