Radamel Falcao enjoys unique Premier League challenge

Radamel Falcao believes that the Premier League's physical challenges makes it unique as he prepares for the new season with Chelsea.

Chelsea striker Radamel Falcao has claimed that he enjoys the physical challenges of playing in the Premier League as he prepares for his second season in England.

The Colombian managed to score just four goals in his only campaign with Manchester United, but his struggles did not prevent Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho from securing his services on a season-long loan from Monaco.

Plagued by injury problems in the last two years, Falcao admits that the English game is unique in the way it tests players throughout the season.

"It's a lot more physical here than anywhere else in Europe," he told the club's website. "It's a very, very competitive league where each team gives absolutely everything they've got in every game they play.

"It demands 100% of your ability and focus because it is very competitive, very physical and tactical too.

"Maybe the football philosophy is a little different here in that it is always about getting the ball forward and there is less time when teams are just trying to control the ball and take the heat out of the game."

Falcao could be handed a start in Saturday's Premier League opener against Swansea City as doubts remain about the fitness of Diego Costa.
