Steve Clarke: Nathaniel Chalobah needs to get "back on track"

Reading manager Steve Clarke challenges England Under-21 midfielder Nathaniel Chalobah to rediscover his best form after joining the Royals on loan from Chelsea.

Reading manager Steve Clarke is hopeful that Nathaniel Chalobah can rediscover his best form during his loan with the club.

The 20-year-old midfielder signed for the Royals until the end of the season from Chelsea after a disappointing spell at Burnley came to an end.

The England Under-21 international has also failed to make an impact at Middlesbrough and Nottingham Forest over the last two campaigns as he struggles to match the standards he set while on loan at Watford.

"Several clubs wanted Nathaniel, he needs to get himself back on track a little bit, our challenge is to get him playing at his best," Clarke told reporters.

"Nathaniel is still young, he could be a real, real asset, technically proficient, good athlete, we're really hopeful he can produce."

Chalobah made just four substitute appearances for Burnley in the Premier League after joining on transfer deadline day in the summer.
