Young Chelsea defender Ethan Ampadu will reportedly miss the rest of the season with a fractured ankle.

Chelsea defender Ethan Ampadu has reportedly been ruled out for the remainder of the season due to a fractured ankle.

Despite only turning 17 in September, Ampadu has been given a number of first-team opportunities by Antonio Conte in all competitions this season.

Ampadu has made seven appearances in total but according to the London Evening Standard, the Wales international will not feature again during the current campaign after breaking his ankle in a UEFA Youth League fixture with Real Madrid.

The injury forced the teenager to withdraw from Ryan Giggs's first Wales squad, with the Dragons due to face China and one of Uruguay or the Czech Republic before the end of the month.

Ampadu last represented Chelsea in the 4-0 victory over Hull City in the FA Cup fifth round.
