Chelsea are dealt an injury blow after Christian Pulisic missed United States' friendly meeting due to a knock picked up in training.

Chelsea winger Christian Pulisic has suffered an injury setback while on international duty with the United States.

Pulisic was linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge in the summer, but he has remained with the Blues where he has only started one Premier League game this season.

Although he has struggled for playing time at club level, Pulisic is an integral part of the United States national setup after scoring 21 goals and contributing 12 assists in 51 appearances.

However, the former Borussia Dortmund man was unable to play any sort of role in his country's 2-0 friendly defeat to Japan on Friday due to a knock picked up in training.

With the United States in action against Saudi Arabia on Tuesday, Pulisic's fitness is currently being assessed on a daily basis.

After starting only one Premier League game this season, the 24-year-old will also hope to be fit to feature in Chelsea's away meeting with Crystal Palace on October 1, as he attempts to force his way into the plans of new Blues boss Graham Potter.
