Celtic beaten in Kazakhstan

Celtic lose 2-0 away to Shakhter Karagandy in the first leg of their Champions League qualifying playoff in Kazakhstan.

Celtic have been beaten 2-0 away to Shakhter Karagandy in the first leg of their Champions League qualifying playoff in Kazakhstan.

The opening goal came against the run of play on 12 minutes as Andrei Finonchenko tapped in from close range following a long throw.

The visitors had the chance to equalise soon after, but Kris Commons saw his shot rattle the crossbar.

Georgios Samaras, Emilio Izaguirre and James Forrest all missed good opportunities to give Celtic an away goal before Shakhter made it 2-0 through Sergei Khizhnichenko's header late on.
