Celtic's Neil Lennon unsure of Champions League qualification

Celtic manager Neil Lennon has warned his players that there is no guarantee of Champions League qualification for the club for next season.

The Hoops, who reached the last 16 of the tournament during the 2012-13 campaign, made it into the third qualifying round on Tuesday with a 5-0 aggregate win over Cliftonville.

They will now take on Swedish side Elfsborg with the winner booking their place in the group stage. Meanwhile, the loser will have to play an additional two-legged playoff.

"It's a fantastic competition and one which went well for us last year but there's no guarantees we'll qualify this year," Goal.com quotes Lennon as saying.

"We'll have to start really stepping things up in the next week to be ready for Elfsborg.

"We know how important it is, but I can't base my whole season on qualifying for the Champions League, I have to look beyond that as well."

Celtic begin the defence of their Scottish Premier League title at home to Ross County on August 3.
