Brisbane Roar's wait for a first home victory of the A-League season continues after they were held to a goalless draw by Sydney FC at the Suncorp Stadium this morning.
The Roar had the first chance of the match in the 17th minute, when Jean Carlos Solorzano tested Sydney goalkeeper Vedran Janjetovic with a fierce strike.
Sydney almost took the lead 15 minutes later through Alex Brosque following a good team move, but his effort on goal was well saved by Jamie Young.
In the 44th minute, Dimitri Petratos came close to opening the scoring for the hosts after he beat two Sydney defenders, but Janjetovic smothered his effort from close range.
Frans Thijssen's Roar started the second half brightly, with Henrique almost scoring with a scissor kick before he was adjudged to have been offside.
With five minutes remaining Janjetovic was called into action again to deny Solorzano when the ball fell to him in front of goal, and this proved to be the last chance of the game as both sides settled for a draw.
The result means that the Roar are seventh in the A-League standings, four points adrift of Melbourne City in sixth place.
