Brighton & Hove Albion to target Aston Villa's Danny Ings this summer?

Brighton & Hove Albion are reportedly considering a move to sign Aston Villa striker Danny Ings this summer.

The 29-year-old joined the Villans from Southampton last summer for around £25m, and has since scored five goals and provided five assists in 22 Premier League appearances.

According to Football Insider, Brighton are keen to recruit a new centre-forward this summer who is a proven goalscorer in the top division, and they have identified Ings as a potential target.

Graham Potter's side have struggled to convert chances so far this season and have scored only 26 league goals – only Burnley and Norwich City at the foot of the table have scored fewer.

A potential exit from Villa for Ings, who is under contract until June 2024, will likely depend on whether Steven Gerrard views the Englishman as part of his long-term plans going forward.

Brighton have also been linked with Blackburn Rovers striker Ben Brereton Diaz, with the Seagulls believed to be leading the race for his signature.
