Brentford came up trumps in yet another goal-laden Premier League extravaganza at the Gtech Community Stadium as they fought back from a goal down twice to defeat Bournemouth 3-2 in West London.
Twice Andoni Iraola's men went ahead through Evanilson and Justin Kluivert, and twice the Bees fought back through Yoane Wissa and Mikkel Damsgaard, before the former extended his extraordinary streak of scoring at home with the fifth and final goal on the cusp of the hour mark.
Seeking a first league away win over Brentford since their days in League One in 2005, Bournemouth's quest for success in West London started positively, although Marcos Senesi did not help matters when he inexplicably missed from a few yards out.
That was far from the biggest defenders' gaffe in the first half, though, as not long after the Argentine's blunder, Sepp van den Berg's atrocious backpass put the ball on a plate for Evanilson to score for the third Premier League game running.
The Brazilian's effort ensured that Brentford's wait for their first Premier League clean sheet of the season would go on, but the hosts delivered the required response and pegged Bournemouth back through home hotshot Wissa 10 minutes later.
The visitors' shouts for handball against Van den Berg went unanswered, but the away end were in a boisterous mood just a few minutes after the restart, when another well-worked short-corner routine ended with Kluivert slotting home.
However, as they have done at home all season, Brentford fought fire with fire and turned the tide through Damsgaard and Wissa's second of the match, and Thomas Frank's men looked the more likely to score again as the full-time whistle approached.
The hosts had to survive a massive scare when Bournemouth hit the bar right at the death, but they were full value for another engrossing home triumph after their 5-3 win versus Wolverhampton Wanderers and 4-3 beating of Ipswich Town.
More importantly, Brentford's victory means that they leapfrog Iraola's side into the top half of the Premier League table, now sitting 10th with a one-point buffer over the 11th-ranked Cherries.

A distraught Van den Berg had lifted his shirt to his face even before the Brazilian tapped home - that is three goals in three top-flight games for the Cherries marksman.

Bournemouth's lead is wiped out after just 10 minutes, and this equaliser stands despite fierce protestations from the Cherries!
Iraola's men fail to deal with a long throw into the box, and the ball eventually pings to Wissa at the back post, where he leaves Kepa Arrizabalaga stranded with a looping header into the far side of the net.
The visitors feel that Van den Berg used his arm to help the ball onto the Wissa, but their pleas fall on deaf ears.

Just as it did against Arsenal, the short corner routine works an absolute treat for Bournemouth!
The Cherries work the ball to Kluivert on the edge of the box, and the Dutchman engages in a lovely give-and-go with Lewis Cook before beating Mark Flekken with a lovely side-footed finish at his compatriot's near post.

Bryan Mbeumo picks up the ball on the right-hand side and threads a sensational pass through to Damsgaard, who somehow manages to find a gap at Kepa's near post to squeeze the ball home from a tight angle. How did the Chelsea loanee not save that?

The Bees take the lead for the first time this afternoon, as Vitaly Janelt plays provider with a slick through ball to Wissa, who is unfazed by Kepa charging out from his goal and delicately lifts the ball over the Spaniard for his second.

As Mbeumo failed to find his shooting boots, Wissa took it upon himself to extend his magnificent run of home form, firstly leaving Kepa rooted to the spot with a delicate header before the deftest of dinks over the Cherries goalkeeper for the decisive goal.
The former Lorient man has now managed 15 non-penalty goals in the Premier League in 2024. The only player with more in that time? Erling Haaland.
