Elliot Ward to undergo further scans on injured knee in Italy

Bournemouth defender Elliot Ward will travel to Rome to undergo further scans on his injured knee.

Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe has revealed that Elliot Ward will fly to Italy in order to undergo further scans on his injured knee.

The 29-year old picked up the injury after colliding with a set of advertising hoardings in last week's defeat at Leicester City.

With the Cherries defender's knee still inflamed, the club have announced he will visit the Villa Stuart Sport Clinic in Rome.

"It was an injury we had not expected because Elliott came through fine against Leicester," Howe is quoted as saying by the Daily Echo. "He felt his knee on Monday morning and knew something was not right because he had a bit of swelling in the joint.

"As a precaution, we had him scanned and it showed some damage to a part of his knee. We need to find out more information before we can really give it a proper assessment.

"He will fly to Italy to be seen by the people there and, hopefully, we will know more in the next few days."

Bournemouth came from two goals down to draw 2-2 with Bolton Wanderers in the Championship earlier today.
