A student has lost his appeal to overturn a 56-day jail sentence for tweeting racially abusive messages regarding Bolton Wanderers midfielder Fabrice Muamba.
Liam Stacey, 21, was jailed in Wales for posting the comments on social networking site Twitter when Muamba collapsed at White Hart Lane from a cardiac arrest a fortnight ago.
The Swansea University student tried to alter the ruling but the appeal was dismissed by Mr Justice Wyn Williams.
"He was intending to say what he said and was intending to produce the effect that he did," the judge said in a High Court in Swansea today.
Stacey, who is from Pontypridd, was taken down to the cells following the hearing to serve half of his sentence.
