New Blackpool manager Lee Clark has blocked Steven Davies's proposed loan move to Sheffield United.
The 26-year-old forward has featured only twice for the struggling Seasiders this season and was expected to join the League One outfit on a temporary basis.
However, Clark's appointment as Jose Riga's successor has seen the deal stall and he will now stay at Bloomfield Road for the time being.
Blades boss Nigel Clough is disappointed at the collapse of the deal, but hinted that Davies will remain a transfer target.
"It's not about money, a new manager has gone in at Blackpool so it's more about that than anything else," Clough told reporters.
"He is one of the targets, he gets goals, he's a good all-round player and at this level he will score goals, especially with the amount of chances we are creating."
Clough worked with Davies, who joined Blackpool last summer, during his time in charge at Derby County.
