Preview: Blackpool vs. Doncaster Rovers

Sports Mole previews Saturday's Championship encounter between Blackpool and Doncaster as the post-Paul Ince era gets underway at Bloomfield Road.

Blackpool will begin life without Paul Ince this Saturday as they host struggling Doncaster Rovers at Bloomfield Road.

Ince was sacked earlier this week after seeing his side go 10 matches without a win in all competitions, including nine defeats, to leave the club 14th in the Championship table.

Last weekend's loss to bottom club Barnsley was the fifth in a row for Blackpool, marking the end of Ince's 11-month spell in charge.

Temporary manager Barry Ferguson will look to end his side's poor form and revive their fading playoff hopes, with the club now nine points behind sixth place.

The Tangerines have only scored four goals in their last 10 games, and their tally of 25 from 26 matches is the lowest outside of the league's bottom four this season.

Blackpool began the campaign with a seven-match unbeaten run at home, but they have picked up maximum points just once in the last six games in front of their own fans.

Despite his father's departure and continued speculation over his own future, Thomas Ince is expected to start the match, while Ferguson could also field himself in midfield behind the returning Ricardo Fuller.

Doncaster ended their own nine-match unbeaten streak with a shock 3-0 victory over Wigan Athletic last week, and they will look to carry that momentum into this Saturday's match.

Many of the teams around them in the table also won last week, so Rovers remain in the bottom three, although they are now only in the relegation zone on goal difference as they drew level on points with Charlton Athletic.

A draw would be enough to see them climb out of the bottom three with Charlton not in Championship action, but they have lost their last four away from home and are without a win in nine on their travels, scoring just four times in that time.

Rovers will be boosted by the return of Billy Sharp on loan from Southampton, but he is likely to start on the bench, while Jamie McCombe and Rob Jones are still sidelined with knee injuries.
