Blackpool midfielder Henry Cameron to miss remainder of season with ACL injury

Henry Cameron will play no further part in Blackpool's League One campaign after suffering a season-ending injury on his New Zealand debut.

An anterior cruciate ligament injury suffered by Blackpool midfielder Henry Cameron on his international bow will keep him sidelined for the rest of the campaign.

The 18-year-old's performances for the Seasiders this season saw him called up to the New Zealand senior squad, where he was handed his debut against Oman on Friday.

Cameron had to leave the field of play on stretcher, however, with his involvement in Blackpool's League One campaign now being curtailed by the unfortunate injury.

Speaking to BBC Sport after his worst fears had been realised, Tangerines boss Neil McDonald said: "He's been brilliant this season. He's earned his international call-up and that was brilliant for him and his family, as well as the football club.

"It's devastating to hear that he's had a really bad injury and is going to be out for the rest of the season, but we'll make sure he's well looked after."

Academy product Cameron has made 16 appearances for Blackpool this term after forcing his way into the first-team fold.
