Blackburn Rovers manager Owen Coyle has said that he is waiting for the "green light" to sign free agent Wes Brown.
The former Manchester United and Sunderland defender has been training with the Championship side throughout the summer, and Coyle is happy that the 36-year-old has proven his fitness.
However, the Rovers boss has suggested that he is still awaiting confirmation that a deal can be pushed through ahead of the club's EFL Cup clash with Leeds United.
The Scot told BBC Radio Lancashire: "As soon as I get the green light from the owners that I can get that over the line, I'll pursue it vigorously.
"Wes is fit and ready to play. We've had daily chats, he is an outstanding man and think he is in good shape to play now."
Blackburn currently possess the second-worst defensive record in the Championship.
