Gary Rowett: 'Contract talks next week'

Birmingham City's out-of-contract players will learn their fate next week, according to manager Gary Rowett.

Gary Rowett has informed his Birmingham City players that they will find out next week if they have a future with the club.

Fourteen players, including Demarai Gray, Jonathan Spector and Nikola Zigic, will be out of contract at St Andrew's this summer.

When asked about his plans, Rowett revealed that he will sit down with each player individually once the season has concluded on Saturday.

"Some have asked the question, some haven't. It's always a very sensitive thing at the end of the season," he told the club's official website.

"My preference is always the same - to sit down with all the players the Monday after the season finishes, speak to them all personally and give them the decency of that conversation.

"It's inevitable at a football club that some get kept and some move on. You also have to understand that for some of them moving on is actually the best thing for them because some players need to go and play games and be involved more."

Eleventh-placed Birmingham will end their campaign away at Bolton Wanderers.
