Real Betis boss Gus Poyet: "I like the pressure"

Under-fire Real Betis boss Gus Poyet says that he 'enjoys the pressure' of being in club management.

Real Betis boss Gustavo Poyet has revealed that he 'enjoys the pressure' of being in club management.

The Uruguayan took control of Betis before the start of the 2016-17 campaign and a difficult season to date has left the Seville club in 16th spot in the table after last weekend's 6-1 home defeat to Real Madrid.

Following the Real Madrid match, Betis vice-president Jose Miguel Lopez Catalan insisted that Poyet still has the 'full support' of the club's board, and the 48-year-old has claimed that he is "learning" during this difficult period.

"I like the pressure. You never stop learning as a manager and that is what is happening now – my thoughts, my ideas, my work... it's constantly evolving and growing," Poyet told reporters.

"Regardless of what happens in the coming weeks, this club and this group of players will continue. We believe in this project and will continue to work with it because we believe it will work. For how long will we be allowed to go with it? We'll see. Whenever you win a game, everything is perfect and when you lose, everything is a mess so the situation at the moment is normal."

Betis will attempt to return to winning ways then they visit Osasuna on Friday night.
