Belgium's Vincent Kompany: 'We won't rely on Eden Hazard, we work as a team'

Belgium captain Vincent Kompany insists that the team will not rely on Eden Hazard for goals in the World Cup.

Belgium captain Vincent Kompany has insisted that the team will not rely on Eden Hazard to score goals when their World Cup campaign gets underway in Brazil today.

The nation, who have been absent from the World Cup for the last 12 years, will take on Algeria in their opening Group H match in Belo Horizonte.

While Hazard will enter the field on the back of an impressive season for Chelsea, Kompany has insisted that there are plenty of players within that team that can make a difference.

"We can score a lot of goals but we don't need to sit here and think one of our strikers is going to make the difference on his own or the manager said it before, Eden Hazard," Kompany told reporters.

"There are so many players in our team that are good at going forward. Ultimately I consider our success will be down to how we behave as a team and just that."

Belgium had 10 different goalscorers during their qualifying campaign.
