Newcastle United have reportedly held talks with Bayern Munich centre-back Niklas Sule over a transfer move from Germany to St James' Park.
The 26-year-old has featured in all 10 of Bayern's opening Bundesliga games this season, helping Julian Nagelsmann's side to the top of the table in the early stages of this campaign.
Newcastle are expected to bring in a flurry of new players in January after their takeover in October, and Sule could be one of the high-profile names arriving at the club, along with Philippe Coutinho from Barcelona, according to reports.
BILD reports that the German defender is interested in a move to the Premier League and is intrigued by the potential project which could start under new ownership at Newcastle.
It is believed that talks between the Magpies and Sule started three weeks ago, and a move is likely to occur in the early stages of the new year with negotiations starting so early before the mid-season transfer window.
Since arriving at Bayern Munich in 2017, Sule has gone on to make 149 appearances for the club, winning 13 trophies along the way.
