Simon Rolfes: 'Bayer Leverkusen can learn from Champions League exit'

Simon Rolfes believes that Bayer Leverkusen can take positives from the defeat to Paris Saint-Germain on Wednesday night.

Simon Rolfes has insisted that Bayer Leverkusen can learn lessons from their Champions League exit at the hands of Paris Saint-Germain.

The German club were knocked out of the competition on Wednesday due to a 6-1 aggregate defeat but Rolfes, who missed a penalty in the French capital, believes that Leverkusen could take positives from the disappointment.

"We had a good character test," the midfielder told Sky Sport Germany after the 2-1 loss in the second leg. "We could have gone in front, but unfortunately I missed the penalty. We did better today and we were compact.

"We wanted to earn something for our good performance, but that's football. Today we played with more aggression, we should take this to the Bundesliga to be successful again."

Leverkusen return to action against Bayern Munich on Saturday afternoon.
