West Bromwich Albion reportedly failed in an attempt to sign Barcelona forward Martin Braithwaite in the January transfer window.
Manager Sam Allardyce was keen to bolster his attacking options last month as he bids to pull the Baggies out of the Premier League relegation zone.
Mundo Deportivo reports that West Brom wanted to sign Braithwaite on loan with an option to buy for a fee of around £15m, but no deal could be agreed.
The 29-year-old, who joined the Catalan giants in February 2020, was allegedly not keen on a move to a side currently struggling at the bottom end of the Premier League and preferred to fight for a place in Barca's starting lineup.
West Brom decided to sign Senegalese striker Mbaye Diagne from Galatasaray on loan for the rest of the season following their unsuccessful attempts to lure the Danish international to the Hawthorns.
Braithwaite, who spent 18 months with Middlesbrough between 2017 and January 2019, has made 26 appearances for Barca in all competitions this campaign, scoring six goals and providing two assists.
