A report claims that Neymar has formally asked for a move away from Paris Saint-Germain, with former club Barcelona the favourites to sign him.

Paris Saint-Germain forward Neymar has told the club that he wants to leave this summer, according to a report.

The Brazil international has been touted as a target for former side Barcelona just two years after switching clubs in a £198m transfer.

PSG chairman Nasser Al-Khelaifi suggested last month that Neymar is free to leave if Barca match his valuation, citing "celebrity behaviour" as an unwanted distraction behind the scenes.

The transfer saga developed further on Monday as the Parisians issued a statement condemning the player for not showing up for pre-season training on time.

Brazilian website UOL Esporte claims that Neymar has now informed sporting director Leonardo that he wants out of the Parc des Princes.

Barcelona are also believed to be on the brink of bringing in Antoine Griezmann from Atletico Madrid for upwards of £100m.
