Robert Lewandowski reiterates that he is eager to see out his contract at Barcelona, effectively committing himself to the club until 2026.

Robert Lewandowski has suggested that he intends to remain at Barcelona until the end of the 2025-26 season.

When Barcelona's hierarchy opted to use financial levers to make a number of high-profile additions in 2022, Lewandowski was high on their priority list.

The Poland international departed Bayern Munich for Camp Nou in a deal that could potentially rise to €50m should a number of add-ons be activated.

As it stands, the transfer can be considered to be a success as Lewandowski starred during the La Liga title triumph last season with 23 goals and seven assists.

However, despite the legendary frontman contributing a total of 47 goals and 14 assists from just 77 appearances, he will turn 36 years of age in August.

With Barcelona's perilous financial position having been well-documented and the club currently going through a period of transition where younger players are being preferred, there is an argument that they may prefer to part ways with one of their biggest earners.

Nevertheless, speaking in an interview with Sport, Lewandowski has indicated that he has no plans to leave, citing that he wants to experience playing at Camp Nou again once the stadium has been renovated.

Lewandowski said: "Yes, of course, it is one of the objectives, to play at the Camp Nou again.

He added: "I feel very good in the city, my family too, we are very happy and happy. I could just be happy with my things in the club, but the rest is fine too."

The comments come at a time when Barcelona are searching for a successor to Xavi, who recently announced that he intends to leave his role in the dugout at the end of the season.

As it stands, Barcelona do not have a senior alternative to Lewandowski, although they have just completed the acquisition of Brazilian starlet Vitor Roque.

Seven substitute appearances have been made since his arrival, with the 18-year-old having recently netted in La Liga fixtures against Osasuna and Alaves respectively.

Lewandowski is expected to retain his spot in the starting lineup when Barcelona play host to Granada on Sunday evening.
