Everton are reportedly looking at the possibility of signing Barcelona defender Thomas Vermaelen this summer.
The defender has not featured for the Catalan club since joining from Arsenal last summer.
A hamstring injury has hampered the 29-year-old's time with Barcelona, but he has since returned to training and may yet feature before the season closes.
According to The Metro, Everton boss Roberto Martinez is eyeing up the Belgian as a replacement for 37-year-old centre-back Sylvain Distin.
Vermaelen's hamstring troubles began during the World Cup with Belgium.
