Barcelona rule out Arda Turan sale

Barcelona technical secretary Robert Fernandez insists that Turkish international Arda Turan will not be leaving Camp Nou this summer.

Barcelona midfielder Arda Turan is not for sale this summer, according to the Catalan outfit's technical secretary Robert Fernandez.

The 29-year-old joined Barcelona from Atletico Madrid last summer, but did not make his official debut until early 2016 due to the Spanish side's transfer ban.

Turan struggled to earn a starting role in the second half of the 2015-16 campaign and it has been widely reported that Barcelona would be prepared to sell for the right price in this transfer window.

However, Fernandez has insisted that the Spanish champions have "never considered selling Arda" and are counting on the midfielder for the 2016-17 campaign.

"Arda's situation has not changed," Fernandez told reporters. "He has had a difficult season, but we all know that his performances the year before that were very good. We are waiting for the Arda Turan of Atletico Madrid to return.

"We never considered selling Arda. There is no doubt about it that he can be important and decisive. He obviously had a tough season, but we are excited about what he can do in the new season. We expect his contribution to be very important."

Arsenal and AS Monaco have both been linked with Turan in recent weeks.
