Barcelona manager Tito Vilanova insists that his side will still have to work hard if they are to win the La Liga title.

Barcelona manager Tito Vilanova has insisted that Atletico Madrid can still overtake Barcelona and win the La Liga title.

Barcelona recorded a 4-1 victory over Atletico on Sunday night to move nine points clear at the top of the La Liga table, but Vilanova believes that it is far from a certainty that the Catalan club will win the Spanish league title at the end of the season.

Vilanova told reporters: "In my first year (2008-09) we were 12 points back and we had to go to the Bernabeu and play for the title. Now there's a team that's only nine points behind us.

"I don't think that this title is ours to lose. If there is a team that has the capacity to win a lot of points, and they overtake us, then they deserve the title. It happened in 2009 and it could happen again.

"La Liga is not easy and it certainly isn't boring."

Barcelona have only dropped two points in 16 league games this season.
