Victor Valdes out until New Year

Victor Valdes will be out until New Year after picking up a calf injury in Spain's defeat to South Africa last night.

Barcelona sporting director Andoni Zubizarreta has revealed that Victor Valdes has been ruled out of action until the New Year.

The 31-year-old goalkeeper picked up a calf injury during Spain's 1-0 defeat to South Africa last night.

"Injuries never come at a good time and it is unusual for a keeper to get a leg injury but this is the situation and we will have to deal with it," Zubizarreta told Radio Marca.

Valdes is expected to leave Camp Nou when his contract expires next summer.
