Barcelona and Argentina forward Lionel Messi has scooped his fourth-successive FIFA Ballon d'Or gong with 41.6% of the votes.
The 25-year-old staved off strong competition from Cristiano Ronaldo and Andres Iniesta to be crowned as the best player in the world at this evening's ceremony in Zurich.
Despite missing out on his sixth La Liga winners medal, Messi managed to break Gerd Mueller's long-standing record for most goals in a calendar year.
He eventually ended with a haul of 91 goals for the year.
In the end, Real Madrid rival Ronaldo (23.7%) finished second, while Barca teammate Iniesta (10.9%) came in third place.
