Barcelona will face Athletic Bilbao in the quarter-finals of the Copa del Rey, while Atletico Madrid have been paired with Sevilla.

Barcelona will take on Athletic Bilbao in the quarter-finals of this season's Copa del Rey, while Atletico Madrid's reward for overcoming holders Real Madrid is a clash with Sevilla.

The draw for the final eight took place on Friday, with Celta Vigo taking on Real Sociedad, while current La Liga leaders Girona have been paired with Mallorca.

Barcelona survived an early scare against third-tier Unionistas in the last-16, recovering from a one-goal deficit to record a 3-1 victory, with Xavi's side progressing to the final eight.

The La Liga champions will take on Athletic, with Ernesto Valverde's side comfortably progressing to the quarter-finals of the competition with a 2-0 success over Alaves on Tuesday night.

Barcelona's game against Athletic has been scheduled for January 24, while Girona will be in action on the same night against Mallorca.

The team at the top of La Liga recorded a 3-1 victory over Rayo Vallecano in the last round, while Mallorca managed to navigate their way past Tenerife, triumphing courtesy of a 1-0 scoreline.

Celta are also in the final eight, with Rafael Benitez's side beating Valencia 3-1 at Mestalla last time out, and they will take on Real Sociedad, who were 2-0 winners over Osasuna.

The last quarter-final, which will take place on January 25, will see Atletico face Sevilla in Madrid.

Diego Simeone's side recorded a 4-2 extra-time win over Real Madrid on Thursday evening, while Sevilla put their La Liga troubles aside to overcome Getafe courtesy of a 3-1 success.

Barcelona are the most successful side in the history of the Copa del Rey, lifting the trophy on 31 occasions, while Athletic are second in the standings on 23.

Atletico have won the competition 10 times, with Sevilla next on the list in terms of the teams still active in this season's competition, securing the trophy on five occasions.

Real Sociedad have won it twice, while Mallorca also have a success to their name in the competition, famously winning the trophy in 2002-03 courtesy of a 3-0 success over Recreativo de Huelva in the final.
