How Juventus could line up against Barcelona

Sports Mole looks at how Juventus could line up in Tuesday's Champions League clash with Barcelona.

Juventus will be looking to snatch first position away from Barcelona in Group G when the two teams lock horns in the Champions League on Tuesday night.

The Old Lady are currently second in the section and have already booked their spot in the knockout round of the competition ahead of the clash at Camp Nou.

Andrea Pirlo's side can still top the group, although they will have to beat Barca by three goals or more, or by any two-goal margin other than 2-0, which was the result in the reverse game in Turin.

Here, Sports Mole looks at how Juve could line up in Spain.

Possible JUV XI vs. BAR

Out: Merih Demiral (muscle), Giorgio Chiellini (hamstring), Gianluigi Buffon (thigh)

Juve will again be unable to call upon defensive duo Merih Demiral or Giorgio Chiellini against Barca, while Gianluigi Buffon is on the sidelines with a thigh problem.

Pirlo otherwise has a strong squad to choose from, though, and like Barca boss Ronald Koeman, the Italian is expected to resist the temptation to make wholesale changes to his first-choice XI.

The visitors could line up in a fluid 4-4-2 formation on Tuesday, with Alvaro Morata, who is currently suspended in Serie A, joining Cristiano Ronaldo in the final third of the field.

Ronaldo missed out on the chance to face Barca in the reverse game in Turin due to coronavirus, but the Portugal international is expected to be in the starting XI for this game.

Adrien Rabiot and Rodrigo Bentancur could get the nod in the middle of the park despite the likes of Aaron Ramsey, Weston McKennie and Arthur being available for selection.

Paulo Dybala is likely to be the player to miss out on a spot in the final third, meanwhile, with Dejan Kulusevski and Federico Chiesa potentially operating in the wide areas.
