Atletico Madrid too good for Real Zaragoza

Goals from Tiago and Radamel Falcao help Atletico Madrid beat Real Zaragoza 2-0 in tonight's La Liga clash at the Vicente Calderon Stadium.

Atletico Madrid have seen off strugglers Real Zaragoza 2-0 in tonight's La Liga clash at the Vicente Calderon Stadium.

A Tiago header and Radamel Falcao's penalty were enough to temporarily move Diego Simeone's side to within eight points of leaders Barcelona.

The hosts took the lead in the 31st minute when Tiago headed in powerfully past Zaragoza goalkeeper Roberto from a corner.

It was 2-0 before the break as Radamel Falcao fired in from the penalty spot following Cristian Sapunaru's foul on Arda Turan.

Glenn Loovens nearly scored a comical own goal in the final minutes of the match when he headed past his own onrushing keeper.

However, the defender was relieved to see the ball go inches wide of the post as Zaragoza slumped to a fourth league defeat in five matches.
