Aston Villa boss Alex McLeish has insisted that there is no long-term agreement in place to keep LA Galaxy striker Robbie Keane at the club.
Keane, 31, marked his full debut for the club with a double in the 3-2 win over Wolves last Saturday, leading to suggestions that McLeish would attempt to keep the on-loan striker at the club for a longer period.
Keane's loan spell is due to expire on February 25, and McLeish has stated that is when he will return to America.
"Have we done anything about extending Keane's stay? No, his parent club is LA Galaxy and there is an agreement in place," McLeish told Sky Sports News.
"We said if Robbie could come and give everyone a boost, get a couple of goals, make a significant difference in the other games, then great. But that's it."
Villa travel to Arsenal in the FA Cup on Sunday afternoon.
