Aston Villa boss Paul Lambert: 'I'm strong enough to handle job pressure'

Aston Villa manager Paul Lambert insists that he is "strong enough" to handle pressure amid concerns over his job.

Aston Villa manager Paul Lambert has insisted that he will not buckle under pressure amid concerns of his long-term future with the Midlands club.

The Premier League outfit are the lowest scoring side across all four divisions with just 11 goals and have picked up just two victories in their last 18 league fixtures.

Misery continued at the weekend when they suffered a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Liverpool at Villa Park.

"No, no. Pressure? High-level football? I'm fortunate, I've been at the top level playing in European Cup finals and things like that, so pressure is part and parcel of my nature," the Daily Mail quotes Lambert as saying.

"It's part and parcel of the game of football. You have to handle it. I'm strong enough to handle it."

This weekend, Villa will switch their attention to the fourth round of the FA Cup when they take on Bournemouth on home turf.
