Aston Villa boss Alex McLeish has warned Charles N'Zogbia to forget about a flash lifestyle and concentrate on his football.
N'Zogbia was recently dropped for failing to turn up for medical treatment, but impressed in Saturday's 2-1 win at Bolton.
"We are looking for him to be a great Aston Villa player, and that should be his goal," McLeish. "It's not about the finer things in life – cars, houses – it's about prestige, being a top player, playing well at a top club.
"Charles gave us a performance [against Bolton] we have been used to seeing from him over the years.
"He's got a gift that other people would love to have in life and he has to use that as he did on Saturday."
McLeish says that he is still waiting for N'Zogbia to perform since his £9.5m transfer from Wigan in the summer.
"We're waiting for him to ignite here," McLeish said. "Saturday was a step in the right direction."
Villa are currently ninth in the Premier League with 19 points from 15 games.
