Aston Villa winger Marc Albrighton will miss six to eight weeks of the new Premier League season with a broken metatarsal.

Aston Villa have confirmed that winger Marc Albrighton will be sidelined for six to eight weeks after breaking his metatarsal.

The 22-year-old suffered the injury in the first week of the club's pre-season schedule and is likely to return to training in October.

The former England Under-21 international's recent injury blow has added to Villa's casualty list, which includes Gabriel Agbonlahor, who will be out of action for a month, and Richard Dunne, who is expected to be sidelined for six weeks.

The Midlands club begin their Premier League season under new manager Paul Lambert with an away trip to West Ham United on August 18.
