West Bromwich Albion have reportedly joined Arsenal in attempting to sign Stevenage centre-back Ben Wilmot.
The 18-year-old is allegedly a target for Gunners boss Arsene Wenger, but according to The Sun, the Baggies have now expressed interest in the defender.
The newspaper says that West Brom boss Alan Pardew, who is bracing himself for the exit of current centre-back Jonny Evans, is looking to build Wilmot into a contender for his first team in the coming years.
Former Manchester United man Evans is wanted by Arsenal and Leicester City, meaning that Pardew could have funds to spend on Wilmot should the Northern Irish international leave The Hawthorns.
The source also says that the Baggies have lined up Egyptian international Ali Gabr as a short-term replacement.
