Arsenal are reportedly set to confirm the omission of Mesut Ozil from their Premier League squad today.
Top-flight clubs must submit their final squad lists in the wake of the summer transfer window today, with only 17 non-homegrown players permitted.
The Gunners currently have 19 such players over the age of 21 in their ranks, and the Evening Standard reports that Ozil is one of those who will be left out by manager Mikel Arteta.
Ozil remains the highest earner at the club on £350,000 per week, but he has not featured at all since March and is now in the final year of his lucrative contract.
Arsenal attempted to offload the 32-year-old during the summer but were unable to shift his wage bill and will now look to save money on appearance bonuses by leaving him out in the cold.
Sokratis Papastathopoulos is also set to be left out of the squad, with both players having also been omitted from Arteta's Europa League roster earlier this month.
Elsewhere in North London, Danny Rose has been left out of Tottenham Hotspur's squad and told to train alone after failing to secure a January move away.
