Barcelona forward Ferran Torres confirms that he is staying at Camp Nou this summer amid the speculation surrounding his future.

Barcelona forward Ferran Torres has confirmed that he is staying at Camp Nou this summer.

There has recently been a host of speculation surrounding the Spain international's future, with Barcelona thought to be open to letting him leave due to their well-documented financial issues.

A return to the Premier League has been mentioned as a possibility, with Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur both previously being credited with an interest in his services.

However, Torres, who is currently with Spain at Euro 2024, has ruled out a departure during the current window, insisting that he will "continue at Barca next year".

"I'm very calm, I'm going to continue at Barca next year, you can save the ink and change my name to someone else's," he told RAC1. "It's not that I want to continue, it's that I'm going to continue at Barca."

Torres rules out Barcelona departure

Torres, who is valued at £25m by transfermarkt, scored seven goals and registered three assists in 29 La Liga appearances during the 2023-24 campaign.

The Spaniard also contributed three goals and one assist in eight Champions League appearances last term, while he struck once in three outings in the Copa del Rey.

Torres started his professional career with Valencia before switching to Manchester City in 2020, and he scored 16 goals and registered four assists in 43 appearances for the Premier League club.

The forward then moved to Barcelona in January 2022, and he has a record of 25 goals and 13 assists in 113 appearances for the Catalan outfit in all competitions.

Torres could face competition from Athletic's Williams next season

Raphinha is being strongly linked with a move away from Barcelona this summer, and his exit, in theory, would make it easier for Torres to feature in the first XI on a regular basis next season.

However, the Catalan outfit are expected to add another forward to their squad in the current window, with Nico Williams currently being heavily linked with a move to Camp Nou.

The attacker, who is also with the Spain squad at the European Championship, is believed to have a €55m (£47m) release clause in his contract at Athletic Bilbao.

Arsenal and Liverpool are also thought to be keen, but Williams is said to have made it clear that he wants to move to Barcelona before the end of the transfer window.

The Spaniard recently welcomed suggestions of interest from major clubs in his services.
