Chelsea reportedly identify Tottenham Hotspur's Fernando Llorente as a possible alternative to Olivier Giroud as their search for a new striker rumbles on.

Chelsea have reportedly identified Tottenham Hotspur striker Fernando Llorente as a possible alternative for Olivier Giroud in their ongoing search for a new striker.

The Premier League champions were linked with the Spain international last summer while he was still a Swansea City player, but Llorente opted to join Spurs ahead of their London rivals.

The 32-year-old has since made just one Premier League start for Tottenham, though, and ESPN reports that Chelsea have revived their interest in the striker, who previously worked under Antonio Conte at Juventus.

Arsenal's Giroud remains Chelsea's main target after they missed out on Roma forward Edin Dzeko, but the Blues are unwilling to meet the £35m asking price for the Frenchman.

Reports have suggested that Conte will offer David Luiz as part of any deal to bring Giroud to Stamford Bridge, which would in turn open the door for Michy Batshuayi to leave the club.

Chelsea are also understood to have floated the idea of a straight swap between Llorente and Batshuayi, but Spurs would want such a deal to be permanent whereas Chelsea would only want to loan the Belgian out.

Tottenham are also reluctant to sell to a direct top-four rival, with Chelsea having already missed out on the likes of Andy Carroll, Peter Crouch, Christian Benteke and Ashley Barnes during the current transfer window.
