Santi Cazorla 'hoping' for new Arsenal deal

Arsenal midfielder Santi Cazorla 'hopes' that he will be offered a contract extension, with his current deal due to expire at the end of the season.

Experienced midfielder Santi Cazorla has revealed that he wants to sign a new contract at Arsenal.

Injuries limited Cazorla to just 15 Premier League appearances last season, but the Spanish international has been an ever-present in the Gunners side at the start of the 2016-17 campaign.

The 31-year-old will be out of contract at the end of the current season, but is 'hopeful' that an extension will be agreed in the near future.

"I hope I can stay here and continue to play," the Spaniard told Cadena Ser. "I am happy here.

"What a player wants is to play and to feel important. Fortunately, since I arrived at Arsenal, I've had the confidence of the coach and of my teammates. I've played a lot of minutes. In the end, that is what every player wants."

Cazorla, who joined Arsenal from Villarreal in the summer of 2012, has scored twice and provided two assists in five Premier League starts this season.
